Practicing gratitude is one of the simplest things you can do to shift how you feel on a daily basis and start to turn your life in a more positive direction.
When you think of what you’re grateful for, most likely the big things come to mind first. Your family and friends, your health, your home, your career or business. Or maybe something big and recent comes to mind like swerving just in time to avoid a car accident or receiving an all-clear on your mammogram scan. These types of scares are the kind that make us wake up and feel all kinds of gratitude.
But the little things are important, too, and cultivating a practice of gratitude for the daily blessings that are sprinkled all throughout your life can truly change the course of your path ahead.
What you focus on expands, so when you focus on your blessings, you receive more blessings!
Here are some of our favorite ways to cultivate gratitude:
Keep a gratitude journal where you write down what you’re grateful for at the end of each day, or a jar where you drop in little notes of gratitude, and read through them from time to time
Light a Love candle, sit with yourself and meditate on the feeling of gratitude, thinking about the people, places, experiences, and things you love
Take walks outside, beneath the sky and the trees or along the beach, feel the sun on your skin and appreciate the blessing of just being able to walk and move
